Bob Webb Youth Showmanship Program Rules

The Bob Webb Youth Showmanship Program was established to encourage the youth to learn more about dairy goats by participating in showmanship classes.  The first place prize for each age division is a jacket that is embroidered with CDGA Logo on the back and front is personalized with winner’s name.  Second place winner of each age division receive an engraved belt buckle.

In order to participate in the Bob Webb Youth Showmanship Program and earn points towards the awards the follow rules must be followed:

  1. Participant must be a CDGA Member before showing.  Cut off date to enter the Bob Webb Youth Program is June 30th of the current year.  Member is defined as dues currently paid either through immediate family or individually, not through another relative or 4H leader’s membership.

  2. Participant cannot switch age division for season.  Age is determined as of January 1st, of the current year, not the age at the show.  If by mistake you show in the wrong class, you will forfeit the points for that class.

  3. Winners of the Junior and Intermediate division have the option to compete in the same age division the following year or to jump up to the next age division. However, any youth who has won the same age division two times must jump up to the next age division.

  4. Competitors in the Senior Division who have previously won the Senior Division may continue to participate in the youth program by competing in the Advanced Class.  There is no limit to the number of times the participant may win. The Advanced Class participants will compete with the Senior Division Class so that there are enough youth to make the class competitive.  Advanced Class & Senior Division participants earn points based upon their placement among the total number of entrants in the class.  Only the first place winner of the Advanced Class will receive an award, which will be to have their jacket embroidered with new information.

  5. Participant will only be awarded one jacket, so make sure you select a size that will be appropriate for future years.   Repeat winners will have their jacket embroidered with new information.

  6. Winners will write thank you letter to Sponsors.

The age divisions are:  Junior age 8-10, Intermediate age 11-13 and Senior 14-19

Sponsored Shows are:  Fuzzy Goat Show, Tri-County Show, Boulder County Fair, Wyoming State Fair, Colorado State Fair, and Harvest Show.

Rules for showmanship are as set by ADGA.   We encourage you to follow their guidelines.

The table below is the point system.  Remember, the more you enter, the better chance you have of winning a jacket.
